Uniting 2 Serve At Risk Families Year 2

Well I believe God has started a tradition for us here in Guatemala and we LOVE IT!!!  You may remember that last year I posted a blog about Uniting 2 Serve At Risk Families which shared about the opportunity we had to take food to families for Easter and share with them about the importance of what we celebrate with this holiday: the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus which washed us clean of all our sins and gives us new life in Him!!  This year God provided us with the opportunity to do it again and we were able to serve even more families!!

Easter blessing basket! Each had beans, rice, sugar, milk, eggs, bananas and of course candy for the kiddos :)

When we shared about this last year, Dylan’s family loved the idea so much that they sent money for us to be able to buy some food and candy for the families.  Then our home church in the states, York Christian Church, had a team here in February and they had a lot of candy left over so they gave it to us.  One of our 4 banana trees in our year produced a bushel of bananas just in time for them to be ready to give with these baskets.  Also, just like last year, we were able to buy the baskets and some food in addition to what was already supplied thanks to our faithful financial partners who continue to support us to do what God has called us to here in Guatemala.

We were able to bless 12 families with food this year and share with them the love and hope that Jesus brings to all of us!  As I said in my post when we did this last year it wasn’t just Jon, Dylan, and I buying this food and sharing the love of Christ with these families it was ALL of us, doing our part that God has called us to do, working TOGETHER as the body of Christ.  We want to thank all of you, our partners in ministry, for your faithful prayer and financial support.  We are so grateful that God continues to move your hearts and that you continue to follow God’s call in Uniting 2 Serve At Risk Families with us in Guatemala!  Below are some pictures of a few of the families God blessed this year.  Can’t wait to see what He does next year!!

The Maria's! 2 sisters, in their 80s and 90s, who live all alone and run a small tienda to survive. They were so blessed by the visit and the gift!

This visit really touched our hearts! This was the first time we had met this man and the rocks you see behind him are where he has made his home. He has no family to live with and survives by catching bait in the river and selling it to fishermen. What a blessing it was to be able to share with him!

Had a great time with this family! The girl in the blue shirt is an incredible artist and was sharing some of her artwork and hopes and dreams for after school if she is able to complete it!

Hamilton was the only one home when we visited because he was on break from school for Holy Week. His sister Fabiola was on her way home from work to get ready to go to school. Both of the kids are able to go to school now thanks to sponsors through the Serving At Risk Families Ministry!! I told him to make sure he didn't eat all the candy before the rest of his family got some and he laughed and said "maybe" :)
